Frequently Asked Questions
What conditions does you treat?I treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including back pain, shoulder injuries, knee pain, sports injuries, and post-surgical rehab. I also help active adults and athletes improve performance, prevent injury, and return to the activities they love.
Do I need a referral to see a physical therapist in Oregon? No, you do not need a referral to see a physical therapist in Oregon thanks to direct access laws. This means you can schedule an appointment at UpperLeft without seeing a physician first, allowing you to start treatment sooner.
What makes you different?I provide one-on-one, personalized care with a Doctor of Physical Therapy at every visit. Sessions are focused on movement, strength, and long-term results—not just passive treatments—so you can recover faster and stay active.
Do you accept insurance or is this cash-based physical therapy?UpperLeft primarily operates as a cash-based physical therapy clinic.
I currently accept Workers’ Compensation and Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) claims. In addition, I will soon be in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and Cigna, giving more patients the option to use their insurance benefits directly.
For patients using out-of-network benefits, I can provide a detailed superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Many patients are able to get a portion of their visits reimbursed depending on their plan.
You can also use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), which can be a great way to use pre-tax dollars for your care.
If you’re unsure about your coverage or options, I am happy to help you understand the best way to use your benefits.
